Quick Almond Apple Vegan Treat Recipe
This is a simple vegan dessert or treat. All you need are apples, almond butter, granola and vegan chocolate chips. You can whip this dessert up in no time. Apples are so good for you. Apples reduce the risk of heart disease and are high in antioxidants. The fiber in apples slows down the release of sugars and therefore slows down the insulin release into the bloodstream.

When I was growing up I did not like apples much. My dislike was mainly attributed to the fact that there was only one type of apple available to us at the time, Red Delicious. After living in Bay Area of Northern California, I’ve been exposed to so much more varieties out there. A few of my favorites: Fuji, Gala, Honeycrisp, Braeburn and Pink Lady.
For this recipe I used Fuji apples. All you do is slice up the apples and there are a few ways to do this. I actually looked up a YouTube video on how to take out the core of the apple cleanly.
If you have an apple corer awesome, if not you can do what I did — slice into quarters so that you have 4 equal chunks. Then use your knife to scoop out the seeded part of each apple chunk. Also, for this recipe you do not have to peel the apple. Continue to prep the apple by slicing into wedges.
From this point all you do is smear and dip! Smear some almond butter onto the apple slice. You can place the almond butter on one or both sides, it’s totally, up to you, depending on how much almond butter you like.
I used the Costco Organic Almond butter for this recipe.
Sprinkle some Vietnamese cinnamon onto the wedges. Pour some granola onto a plate and some vegan chocolate chips. Dip the almond butter wedges onto the granola and/or the chocolate chips. Yum so easy fast and good.
Let me just put this out there. I love chocolate! Sometimes I will go to extreme measures to get it. What is there not to love? Chocolate is a great antioxidant, it may also lower blood pressure, improve heart health and boost brain function.
Not that I need more reasons to eat chocolate! Now you need to get dark chocolate to reap the benefits. The darker the better. I would suggest 70% cacao or higher. There is also less sugar the higher the percentage of cacao.

As an option you can also melt the vegan chocolate chips and drizzle onto the apple slices.
I hope you enjoy this healthy simple vegan dessert!
